In this show, Dr. John Harding talks to the guys about atrial fibrillation, much to the chagrin of Todd. Todd was appalled that Jeff felt the need to bring in a "specialist" to talk about something Todd treats everyday. The fact is, Jeff just wanted to talk to somebody from Temple Medical School. It is a great interview, and a terrific show, until Todd is denied his rant time. Tune in to hear.

March 17, 2010 - Guest Hosting Comment Please by Univest

Happy St. Patrick's Day as Todd and Jeff guest host Comment Please by Univest.  In the "quickest hour on radio", Todd and Jeff open the show by discussing the fork in the road of the healthcare reform battle.  The issues are voluminous as the the process has moved beyond the debate over the merits of the bill to the true fight over the Democrats proposed strategies of getting it passed.

The front page of the Intelligencer is discussed briefly which prompts Patrick Murphy's opponent in the 7th District Congressional race, Mike Fitzpatrick to call in.  The phone call is a passionate challenge of incumbents invisibility in his own district and an invitation to particpate on a panel on Friday, March 19th.

Shortly thereafter, Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz (D - 13th District) was a guest of the show and proposed the merits of the bill.  Her points were quickly challenged by US Senator John Barrasso's (R-Wyoming) who challenged the bill, challenged the process and encouraged Patrick Murphy to hold a town hall meeting before he votes on the this "Bad bill."

Listen in --  lots to hear and learn!

The Beat Goes On likes to bring a variety of subjects to the table and this show was no different.  Well, it was different.  Actually, it was no different in that we hit on a unique topic.  Which means that it was different.  Thus, is was no different in that it was different.  Get it?

Mike Maransky, a lawyer from Fox Rothchild, LLC, answers questions from Todd and Jeff about Advanced Directives.  What are Advanced Directives?  They are the combination of a Living Will with a Medical Power of Attourney.

It was a great discussion as TBGO tapped into Mike's expertise.  Of course, the show quickly deteriorated when Todd's history lesson delved into Abe Lincoln's grave snatchers and Jeff's ranted on toilet paper.

This one you must hear.

Listen in now and every Saturday at 8am on WNPV 1440 AM -- The Beat Goes On.

How about an interview with Fertility Specialist Annette Lee, MD.

Dr. Lee answers Todd and Jeff's questions on the causes and treatments of infertility and yes...even Octomom.  Dr. Lee's expertise is evident in her explanations and her encouragement that if there is a problem-- seek help.  Because much can be done.

Lots of medical news, a great history lesson of the day, and of course some wackiness.  Listen here and every Saturday morning at 8 am on WNPV 1440 AM.

Show 34: February 27, 2010

Since the inception of The Beat Goes On, healthcare reform has been a huge topic.  It remains that way with President Obama meeting with congressional leaders at a healthcare summit to discuss key issues.  To the untrained eye, not much was accomplished-- which is why we have Congressman Jim Gerlach here to talk with us about the back room of the politics of the bill.  We will continue to follow the progress while trying to remain focused on what is important.

The rest of the show was a load of great medical stories, a wonderful history lesson from next week's guest Rick Beyer's book The Greatest Science Stories Never Told and a rant by Todd on ...a bridge?  Actually the mysterious Burlington-Bristol Bridge.  Enjoy...

Happy New Year to all of our listeners.  Thank you for listening and telling your friends.  We have many remarkable things planned for 2010 -- gret stories, fascinating history lessons, tremendous guests and --of course-- wacky rants.  The first show of 2010 brought fun, but also a constant reminder of the changes that are threatened in Medicine.  Dr. Alfred Bove, the president of the American College of Cardiology, discusses the lawsuit that the ACC brought to Kathleen Sebelius, the Secretary of the HHS.  The issues are complex and the ramifications are tremendous.  Will you get to keep your doctor?  Will your doctor still be in practice for you to keep?

Todd and Jeff end the show with their three predictions which will be posted on their own pages and referred to at the end of the year.  Have a listen!  And have a safe, happy and healthy New Year!

Show 26: January 2, 2010

Show 27: January 9, 2010

The year starts out with bang as Todd and Jeff talk to former US Congressman of the 8th District in Pennsylvania, Mike Fitzpatrick.  The former congressman discussed his successful battle against cancer and his good health.  He also sounded a lot like a candidate for the seat he lost 2 cycles ago against Patrick Murphy when he criticized Congressman Murphy's voting record and laid out specific components of a successful message to the people of Bucks County.

The rest of the show was a load of great medical stories, a wonderful history lesson from next week's guest Rick Beyer's book The Greatest Science Stories Never Told and a rant by Todd on ...a bridge?  Actually the mysterious Burlington-Bristol Bridge.  Enjoy...
